KORG Gadget 3 app good for
I love gadget, I have been using it since it came out on the iPad originally. Its evolution has been great. Love the sound and the export to Ableton Live function. I just wish it could also export the midi tracks to Ableton live. I would love to double some of my tracks with my hardware synths more easily.
Top quality sounds, easy to use, reliable and with the iM1 module add on is just fantastic. Highly recommended.
Best app Ive ever messed with. I use it everyday. So much you can do with. Performance quality.
Ive been using Gadget for about a year now and its still one of my top choices for making music on iPad. Its very easy to use, the sounds are high quality for the most part, and they do give really big updates every now and then. You can hear some creations Ive made with Korg Gadget by searching "khalid13feet" on soundcloud.
This is an amazingly versatile musical instrument kit, I especially like the ability to create multiple layers of moving, stereo sounds.
The add on sampling synth, Bilbao works well with my all time favorite app, Thumbjam
At first I had some issues but after a hard reset, everything is working well now. Im using an iPhone 6s Plus and of course I feel its a bit small however it is a great way to write on the go.
Some bad moments
So you go to export wave and they ask for $40. Then you pay it, but still cant export!

I just updated my Korg Gadget and it does not open anymore even after restarting my OS.
Im using an Ipad 2 with OS 7.
Update: the problem has been fixed, thanks.
I think that the new synth Im1 is not compatible with OS 7????
So what happens when you buy it for Gadget?
I have an ipad air 2 and after only three "gadgets and two tracks it starts skipping and hiccuping. Only work around is "freezing" instruments and it becomes cumbersome quickly. The workflow is a learning curve but incredibly powerful. I just hope korg can fix all the bugs. If you accidentally automate something, clearing automation is a breeze except, the automation doesnt clear... Another bug... Once these issues are fixed this will be crazy killer especially if they can fix the bugs AND add audio recording...wow.. But for now, this app gives me a headache and makes me want to smash sonething...
Every one of these apps wants you to make the music inside of itself like that is a good idea which it is not. This app gives you the option to have the sequencer take up half or all of the screen, and the stuff you want to use, the instruments, they either get to take up half or none of the screen, who came up with that idea i dont know but it makes a great app almost useless unless you have a midi keyboard and even then.... I dont know i hope they fix this instead of making yet another app to pay for, this is kinda sad and disrespectful because they keep forcing useless sequencers in our faces and preventing their own apps from working as good as they could. Make the app for musicians and not noob please.
Full screen gadgets you disrespectful fools, it is so obvious. I just linked the m1 and it is nonsense.
Korgs apps are always the most promising and the most difficult to use it is so sad because all the problems are obvious conscious decisions by the developer for some reason if it was a contract and korg had the final say and that is why things are as messed as they are then i dont know what else to say but this is a fail all over the place
Great sounding synths, but minimal control. Very pricey compared to its competitors. Lack of proper editing facilities. Ridiculously priced in-app content. The new update gave us landscape mode and an export to live option, which is pretty solid:) there is NO UNDO!!! Biggest problem with this app is its lack of editing functions. I cant stress how frustrating this is!! Good for coming up with solid ideas, but at this price you can buy 6 apps that will do the same thing and give you more features and functionality. Kinda disappointed in Korg :( in addition, this app will erase your hard work, just like that! I have had 2 tunes already wiped out completely for no reason. They were saved and then they were gone. Shitty app
This app would be great except for the fact that it doesnt autosave and doesnt ask if you want to save when you switch to another project. I spent weeks working on a song, closing the app and restarting my iPad multiple times, and it always remembered the song data. But as soon as I loaded another project, once I went back to my song all the work Id put into it had been erased. Thats the stupidest design decision Ive seen in an app of this calibre. What a waste of $70!!!
